Change O Plans

So, as some (or most) of you know I am headed to Vegas for a "Bachelor Party" in March. Said "party" was going to be legit the weekend of St Patty's Day. That didn't work out so I had to bet and declare with a firm that wants to speak with me about a position out there. The weekend that things are supposed to happen is the 29th through April 1. A good friend was supposed to coming out that Friday to meet me after my day long interview. Turns out he had RSVP'ed a party in Tampa for the same weekend, many months back, and had forgotten about it. Not a big deal, I'm a big boy and can travel alone. My thing was, I wanted some folks out there to party with the other two days of my trip. Especially on my first trip to Sin City. I was also hoping someone who had been would be able to make it so they could point me at least somewhat in the right direction. So much for that. Now I'm to the point where I don't care who goes with me, as long as someone comes to hang. Again, I can mange on my own but a partner in crime is always more fun. Any takers?

Channel Surfing

I'm not typically one for the awards shows but stumbled upon the Grammy's tonight. I was bored with Sunday night TV and started flipping chanels and decided to see what was on the HD Discovery channel. In the process I got the Grammy's on the HD CBS chanel. Initially I caught a tribute to the Eagles by Racal Flats and Carry Underwood. They had one award presentation then a 60's, 70's and now R&B collage with Smokey Robinson, Lionel Ritchie, Chris Brown and surprise pop up by Christina Aguilera. The music in both was surprisingly good. Christina was doing an old cover and looked good in some classy all white suit get up. More importantly Carrie Underwood (who won the one award I saw, Best Newcomer) was freaking rediculously hot in HD. These are the moments I'm glad I pay extra. Now on to the Military Channel to regain my manhood from watching this stuff alone.

Big D

Yeah, so the conference was uneventful. I did the networking I set out to do. Some travling this spring may result from it and I will keep you posted if/when that unfolds. As for the goings on there, not as eventful as I had hoped. Our hotel was not downtown. Not that being downtown has the benfits it did in Chicago. Dallas is one spread out place. It was $15 no matter where you go, and that was without the $2-3 a person extra, above two in a vehicle. Most of the time boozing was spent in the hotel bars where a 16oz draft Fat Tire was $5.50 (I'll pay between $4 and $6 in Vail for this, or $4.50-5 for a bottle) or $5.75 for a bottle of anything else, including but not limited to Mich Ultra. And yes, we did havea female sales person with us drinking this. That's some screwy pricing, and no there wasn't a 7eleven close by.
On the last night though, I got to verify some things being quite large in Texas. At the new D bar, things were quite large. Double D met some double D's. The nice part was, unlike many clubs that I have either expereinced or heard of, interaction was allowed. None of this "Not between the knees dancing" or "Touch me like that again and your outta here buddy" crap or any of that. The girls earned their cash and whether or not you were allowed to "verify" the construction of the goods, you could without comment anyway. We'll say that was the best $20 I spent all weekend. Just $20 you ask...yes, just twenty in the club. When you sell a few hundred grand worth of a product for one company you get the occasional cover/drink/dance treatment and if you are really lucky, you may cram into a van with a dude inthe luggage area going to the club but take the stretch hummer home because you just don't want to wait on a cab.
